Coffee and cake

I came back to Bangalore last month, emerging from the underground hole where I spent my last 7-8 months. I have really developed a special appreciation for cities now. There was not a day that I didn't step out of the house, be it to take a stroll in the neighborhood or party the night away. I explored the city like a tourist. With a day spent in Lal Bagh just admiring flowers or feeding birds in Agara Lake, I made the best of my weekdays. So while scrolling Reddit when I came across a post about open market at Church Street on Sundays, I decided to just go. It took me an hour and a half to reach there with many misadventures on the way (a story to tell another time) but I reached there around 6.30 pm when the festivities were just starting. And the next couple of hours were exhilarating. There were so many people - dancers, artists, singers, you-name-it - from all walks of life, showcasing their crafts. I even got in line for tarot card reading! Everyone was chilling and having a good time, myself, perhaps most of all. Since I was all by myself, I spent a lot of time ambling around and just absorbing the vibe, striking up a conversation with some of the artists and photographers, and admiring their works. Before I packed up and boarded the bus home, I went to Matteo Coffea - a bustling cafe in front of Starbucks - to get my fill of chocolate and call it a day (a perfect one, I'd say). I just kicked back and relaxed after walking for hours while sipping cold coffee and cake. I did overeat - I couldn't stop myself! So travelling back was a tad uncomfortable but boy, was that day good! I really recommend hanging out by yourself in a busy place.

I captured my time spent in the cafe in this painting.
